Like the Theatre, the Municipal Library is located in the former convent of San Francesco.
The current interior is the result of works carried out between 1749 and 1762 by Bolognese architect Alfonso Torreggiani and later by Imola’s ‘adopted son’ Cosimo Morelli. To them we owe the spectacular staircase and the refined Franciscan library (built to house the convent’s books), the walls and vault of which are the work of Imola-born artists, Alessandro Della Nave and Antonio Villa.
