Castel San Pietro Terme
A few kilometres from the city centre, in the hamlet of Varignana, is the crypt of the Church of San Lorenzo in Varignana, a pre-Romanesque jewel from the 9th century.
The three-nave crypt, built beneath the church, is known as an ‘oratory-style’ crypt due to its particular structural features.
Inside, it conserves a fresco dating back to the 15th century.
