The Bosco della Frattona nature reserve is located in the hills outside Imola, just a short distance from Parco Tozzoni; covering 19 hectares, it belongs to a network of Emilia Romagna regional nature reserves.
It essentially follows the Correcchio stream, located between the Santerno and Sellustra valleys and is a valuable reminder of the woods that once covered the hills beyond the town. The varied flora includes oaks, field maples, robinias, European hornbeams and a rich undergrowth.
The fauna is typical of that found in the hills: mammals such as squirrels, hares, foxes, stone martens, roe deer, bats and many species of birds.
