Streets, palaces and apothecaries: Imola and the Hospital Pharmacy - A journey among villas and castles

A view of the Imola Hospital Pharmacy, a place where ancient knowledge of medicine and pharmacopoeia blends with art. From the vaults decorated with 18th-century paintings to the precious original majolica vases, the building retains the unspoilt charm of a genuine ancient apothecary.

Strolling beneath the arcades of the town centre, we explore ancient churches, mysterious symbols and noble coats of arms that reveal the vibrant life that has flowed through the streets and squares of the town centre from the Middle Ages to the present day.

From the market squares, we will proceed to the portico beneath which the ancient apothecaries and the first hospital of Santa Maria della Scaletta once stood, before reaching the main square of the city of Imola, where the palace of the Riario Sforza family and the Town Hall face each other. The tour will be enriched with anecdotes and interesting facts about the life and stories from Imola’s past that remain alive to this day.
